EAM S Jaishankar in Tajikistan for SCO Council meeting of Foreign Ministers

News in debate: External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Tuesday reached Tajikistan to attend the SCO Council meeting of Foreign Ministers.

  • SCO Council of Heads of States on September 16-17 in Dushanbe.
  • The organisation as it celebrates the 20th anniversary,
  • SCO Council meeting with Foreign Ministers will exchange views on current international and regional issues.

Besides SCO meeting 

  • EAM Jaishankar will participate in the SCO Contact Group on Afghanistan on July 14 with the participation of the Afghanistan government. The Joe Biden administration has announced that it would completely withdraw US troops from the war-ravaged country by August end.
  • On the other hand India’s heavily invested in infrastructure project in Afghanistan and has been a major stakeholder in the peace and stability of the country which has witnessed an intense fighting between the US military and Taliban and Al Qaeda for nearly two decades.
